Deine Kartendaten gehen direkt an Stripe, nie an uns.

Rechtsgrundlagen: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO (Bestätigungen), lit. a DSGVO (Erinnerungen — jederzeit in den Einstellungen abschaltbar).

Tipps & Neuigkeiten.

The controller responsible for data processing is:

Ali Karimi Mashgani

Email: support@notimoapp.com

We process personal data only to the extent necessary to provide a functional website and our content and services. The legal bases are in particular Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract), (f) GDPR (legitimate interest) and (a) GDPR (consent), where applicable.

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA. Pages are delivered through Vercel's global network; the server functions that process your data (sign-in, progress, payment) run in a data centre in the EU (Dublin, Ireland). When the website is accessed, technically necessary data (e.g. IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) is processed in server log files. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Transfers to the USA are safeguarded by Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR); a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place with Vercel.

Technically necessary (no consent required): a session/authentication cookie and local storage to keep you signed in and to save your learning settings, local progress, the chosen website language and your cookie choice; plus a service worker that caches parts of the app locally (faster loading, basic offline capability).

Optional — only with your consent: statistics cookies from Google Analytics (Section 5) and Google's sign-in prompt "One Tap" (Section 7b). We ask you via a banner on your first visit; without consent, neither is loaded. You can change your decision at any time with effect for the future:

Open cookie settings

Google Analytics 4 (only with consent): provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (parent: Google LLC, USA). It uses cookies and similar technologies to analyze website usage (pages visited, session duration, approximate location, device type). Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. Data may be transferred to the USA; transfers are safeguarded by Standard Contractual Clauses and Google's EU-US Data Privacy Framework certification. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); you can withdraw it at any time via the cookie settings (Section 4). More: policies.google.com/privacy

Vercel Analytics: cookieless audience measurement by our hosting provider (no cross-device tracking, no cookies). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

The Notimo iOS app does not load Google Analytics.

For your account, sign-in and storage of your learning progress, statistics and settings we use Supabase. Data is processed on servers within the EU (Dublin, Ireland). Provider: Supabase, Inc., 970 Toa Payoh North #07-04, Singapore 318992; a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place. Data processed includes: email address, login data, learning progress, practice statistics, subscription status and account settings. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Several sign-in methods are available: Apple, Google, and passwordless email sign-in (link or one-time code). Account data is stored at Supabase (EU) in all cases (Section 6).

You can sign in with your Apple ID — on the website and natively in the iOS app. Provider: Apple Inc., One Apple Park Way, Cupertino, CA 95014, USA. Apple transmits the data required to create your account, typically your email address; with "Hide my email" we receive an anonymized relay address instead. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. US transfers are safeguarded by Standard Contractual Clauses and Apple's EU-US Data Privacy Framework certification.

You can sign in with your Google account (Google Ireland Limited, see Section 5). Google transmits your email address, name and, if available, your profile picture (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). If you are signed out, the website may additionally show Google's sign-in prompt ("One Tap"). This loads a script from Google that connects to Google (IP address, browser data) and can read Google cookies — only with your consentvia the cookie banner (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG), revocable in the cookie settings (Section 4). Without consent you can still use the "Sign in with Google" button.

You can sign in passwordless via email: we send a one-time sign-in link or code to the address you enter. Only your email address and the technical data required for delivery are processed. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Purchase via the website (Stripe): payment is processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Dublin 2, Ireland (parent: Stripe, Inc., USA). Stripe processes your payment data (e.g. card details, name, email, billing data); we never receive full payment details, only confirmations and your subscription status, which we store in your account. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. US transfers are safeguarded by Standard Contractual Clauses and Stripe's EU-US Data Privacy Framework certification. The card field on our order page (/app/abo/kasse) is provided by Stripe: only on that page do we load Stripe.js from Stripe's servers; Stripe receives your IP address and device information and sets its own cookies for fraud prevention — this is technically required for the payment. Your card details go directly to Stripe, never to us. More: stripe.com/privacy

Purchase in the iOS app (Apple): purchases are made via the Apple App Store. Apple handles the payment; we only receive a signed purchase confirmation which we verify to unlock Pro, and we link its transaction identifier to your account. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

For individual emails (e.g. replies to bug reports, confirmation of a cancellation and — only if you enable them in the settings — practice/streak reminders) we use Resend (Resend, Inc., 2261 Market Street #5039, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA). Email address and message content are processed. US transfers are safeguarded by Standard Contractual Clauses; a data processing agreement is in place. Legal bases: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (confirmations), (a) GDPR (reminders — can be disabled in the settings at any time).

Tips & news. Only if you tick “Tips & news by email” when signing up or in the settings, we send you four getting-started emails during your first week (first lesson, connecting your piano, sight-reading test, trying Notimo Pro) and occasional news about Notimo, including Notimo Pro. For this we process your email address and the date you signed up; as proof we store the time, language and version of your consent. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 7(2) no. 2 UWG). You can withdraw it at any time — via the unsubscribe link in each of these emails or in the settings. This does not affect the lawfulness of emails sent before.

If you practice, the leaderboard and the weekly league show — visibly to other users — your display name (a name you chose yourself, otherwise the name from your Apple or Google login; without either, an anonymous name such as “Pianist A1B2” — your email address is never used), your profile picture (if your login provider supplies one), a country flag (derived from your device's time zone or your choice in the settings) and learning metrics: XP, streak, correctly played notes and practised minutes. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR (gamification as part of the service).

The same information is available as a profile page when someone taps your name in the leaderboard. That page also shows the month you joined (“Member since September 2026”) — deliberately without the day. It does not show times of day, individual practice days or your email address.

You can switch this off at any time: in the settings under “Profile visible to others” you disappear from the leaderboard, the league and profile pages. This does not affect the competition — you keep playing and are promoted or demoted as usual, you simply are not listed. This is your right to object under Art. 21 GDPR; an email to support@notimoapp.com works as well.

If you send us a bug report or feedback via the built-in function, we process your message and — if provided — your email address in order to reply. Optionally, with your consent, technical diagnostic data is transmitted (app version, browser/user agent, language, MIDI connection status, page visited). Stored in our database (Supabase, EU); delivered to us by email via Resend (Section 9). To work on it, we also create a task in our private project repository on GitHub (GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) — with category, message and diagnostic data only, without your email address and without the screenshot; the transfer to the USA is safeguarded by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or (a) GDPR for the optional diagnostic data.

Automatic error reports (Sentry). If a page crashes or a technical error occurs, an error report is sent automatically to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., 45 Fremont Street, 8th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA). It contains the error message, the location in the program code, browser, operating system, the page visited and the time; for error analysis, loading times are also sampled. On receipt, Sentry only derives your approximate location (country and city) from your IP address; the IP address itself is not stored, no cookies are set and no screen recordings are made. Reports are sent via our own domain and stored in a data centre in the EU (Frankfurt); a data processing agreement is in place with Sentry, and any transfer to the USA is safeguarded by Standard Contractual Clauses and Sentry's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is a stable, error-free app. Reports are deleted after 90 days at the latest.

Notimo may access a connected MIDI keyboard (Web MIDI API, or CoreMIDI/Bluetooth in the iOS app) and — only after your explicit permission — your device's microphone to detect your input while practicing. This audio and MIDI data is processed locally on your device only and is not transmitted to us or third parties or stored.

The iOS app displays the web app in a native shell; the same sections as for the website apply — with these specifics: purchases run via Apple (Section 8), Sign in with Apple is native (Section 7a), Google Analytics is not loaded (Section 5). With your permission the app uses Bluetooth to find and connect Bluetooth MIDI pianos; no data is transmitted to us. Practice reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device (no transmission to us; can be disabled in iOS settings).

We use the fonts "Manrope" (body), "General Sans" (headings) and the "Bravura" music font. All three are served locally from our server: General Sans and Bravura are stored as files with us, Manrope is downloaded by Next.js at build time and served from our server too. No connection to Google Fonts or Fontshare servers is made when the page loads.

We store personal data only for as long as necessary for the stated purposes. Account data is stored until you delete your account, which you can do at any time via the settings; all associated data is then removed from our database without undue delay. Statutory retention obligations (e.g. for billing data) remain unaffected.

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Simply contact support@notimoapp.com.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent authority for our location is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).

We use SSL/TLS encryption to protect the transmission of content on this website. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the "https://" in your browser's address bar.

We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy so that it always complies with current legal requirements or to reflect changes to our services. The current version applies to your next visit.
