What does “MIDI piano in the browser” mean?
MIDI is the language keyboards and computers speak. Via Web-MIDI, Notimo reads your MIDI keyboard directly in the browser — every note you play, in real time, with no software to install.
That’s rare: most piano apps are native apps you have to download and install. Notimo brings real MIDI input to the browser.
How to connect your keyboard
Three steps and you’re ready:
- Connect your keyboard by USB — or pair it over Bluetooth MIDI.
- Open Notimo in your browser (Chrome or Edge; Safari 18+).
- Refresh the page — the keys light up the moment you play.
Why it’s a real advantage
With a real keyboard you learn piano far faster than with a mouse or touchscreen: proper finger position, real feel, real timing. And because everything runs in the browser, there’s no extra software to wrangle.
- Real key feel instead of mouse clicks
- Notimo detects attack, timing and wrong notes
- Works with almost any MIDI keyboard
- No drivers, no install, no extra software
No keyboard? No problem
You can start with the on-screen piano and connect a MIDI keyboard any time later. A budget 49-key keyboard is plenty to begin.
Frequently asked questions
Which browsers support MIDI?
Web-MIDI works fully in Chrome, Edge and Opera, and in Safari from version 18. Firefox does not support Web-MIDI yet.
Do I need a driver for my MIDI keyboard?
Usually not. USB-MIDI keyboards are “class-compliant” and are detected by the browser directly, with no driver install.
Does Bluetooth MIDI work?
Yes. Bluetooth-MIDI keyboards can be paired and used in Notimo in the browser, as long as your device and browser support Bluetooth MIDI.
Do I have to install anything?
No. Notimo runs entirely in the browser. Plug in, refresh, play — no app, no driver, no install.
